Executive Team

The Executive Team oversees WinSPIRE’s vision, strategy, and sustainability. They lead organization-wide planning and decision-making, manage budgets, and coordinate across all teams. Members also represent WinSPIRE in partnerships and maintain documentation, workflows, and resources to support future leadership.

Mentor Recruitment & Coordination Team

This team recruits and supports UNC STEM researchers who serve as mentors for SRP students. They manage mentor onboarding, training, and resources to ensure a positive and inclusive research experience.

Program Event Coordination Team

This team plans major SRP events—including the Career Fair, Closing Symposium, LaunchPad, Science-in-the-News, and field trips. They recruit and support event facilitators and ensure each experience is educational and memorable.

Fundraising & Community Outreach Team

This team connects WinSPIRE with the broader community through fundraising and outreach events such as the WinSPIRE 5K, Trivia Night, and local fundraisers. Their goal is to build a diverse, supportive STEM community while raising program funds. â€‹

Industry Liaison Representative

This role builds relationships with companies, organizations, and institutions to secure donations, sponsorships, and in-kind support. The representative helps expand WinSPIRE’s visibility and partnerships across the STEM and philanthropic communities.

Student Recruitment & Coordination Team

This team recruits eligible high school students—particularly those from historically marginalized or underserved groups in STEM—for the WinSPIRE Summer Research Program (SRP). They guide students through onboarding and ensure they are prepared to participate successfully.

Volunteer Recruitment & Coordination Team

Focused on enhancing the SRP experience, this team organizes workshops and activities such as college prep, lab tours, and career sessions. They also recruit and assist volunteers in developing engaging, hands-on sessions.

Community Solutions Challenge Committee

This committee leads WinSPIRE’s year-long Community Solutions Challenge, a mentorship and competition program. They recruit participants, mentors, and judges, organize workshops, and coordinate the one-day final event.

Grant Writing Team

The Grant Writing Team secures funding for WinSPIRE through local, national, and international grants, as well as corporate sponsorships. Their goal is to achieve sustainable, multi-year funding while supporting annual program needs.

Online Education

Communications & Public Relations Team

This team promotes WinSPIRE’s mission through marketing and outreach. Responsibilities include managing the website, social media, newsletters, and event collaborations (e.g., SOLE Fest, SACNAS Movie Night). They also maintain alumni and community engagement.
