WinSPIRE Management Team

The WinSPIRE Organization is headed by two Co-chairs who also act as WinSPIRE Summer Research Program Directors. They are joined by a Treasurer, Secretary, and Program Coordinator to aid in the preparation of the Summer Program and oversee year-round Organization activities.

Research Mentor Recruitment & Coordination Team

The Research Mentor Team recruits Ph.D. or higher level STEM researchers at UNC-CH to work 1:1 or in small groups with high school students during the 6-week summer research program. They work this the Student Team to pair mentors with students of similar backgrounds and guide mentors through lesson planning.

Training Coordinator

The Training Coordinator curates trainings for Organization members, mentors, and volunteers. The trainings are lead by experts recruited by the Training Coordinator to support an inclusive working environment and effective teaching/mentoring during the summer program.

Community Outreach Coordinator

The Outreach Coordinator engages with the local STEM community at UNC-CH and beyond by facilitating exciting workshops and social activities.

Fundraising Team

The Fundraising Team coordinates multiple fundraising events throughout the year. Funds raised support the Summer Research Program.

Student Recruitment & Coordination Team

The Student Team recruits and selects local high school students to participate in the WinSPIRE Summer Research Program. They also assist the selected students in their transition into the university.

Volunteer Recruitment & Coordination Team

The Volunteer Team curates a list of supplemental workshops and trainings that the WinSPIRE students will participate in during the summer program, like resume writing. They then recruit and assist summer volunteers in developing and leading the workshops.

Alumni Engagement Team

The Alumni Team maintains contact with previous WinSPIRE Summer Research Program students. They collect yearly surveys to follow our students career paths longitudinally. They also coordinate WinSPIRE Alumni events, including follow up participation in the current Summer Research Program.

Grant Writing Team

The Grant Writing Team selects and applies for national, international, and community grants to fund the WinSPIRE Summer Research Program. Their hard work continues to allow the WinSPIRE Summer Research Program to expand and improve.

Marketing & Communications Team

The Marketing & Communications Team manages our marketing materials, advertising, and social media posts. They also engage with the local STEM industry community.
